Retrofit Installation.
1. Remove existing sashes (fixed or operable) and all hardware. Leave existing frame intact.
2. Set the new window into the opening, using the shims to block the window into the opening. Adjust the shims so that the window is level. square and plumb. Use the sash to visually check the squareness of the window.
3. Use the screws to fasten the window to the existing frame.
4. Use interior and exterior sealant to prevent air leakage.
5. Cap all exposed wood of the existing frame with Aluminum Capping. Caulk the exterior of the window and aluminum capping.
Full frame removal (Brick to Brick Installation)
1. Remove interior trim and entire window frame and glass.
2. Set the new window into the opening.
3. Fasten the new window to the opening.
4. Insulate the void around the window.
5. Install the new trim.
6. Caulk the exterior of the window.
